Suzugami Foldable Plate
Suzugami is a plate made of tin that's been hand hammered by a skilled artisan to an extreme thin layer so that you can easily bend like origami and create the shape you want by hand. Tin's antibacterial effect makes it safe to be used for serving food but can also be used as a holder for jewelry, incense, etc. To reshape, use a rolling pin to flatten and start over again. The color will change over time - enjoy its aging process.
This suzugami plate is from Syouryu, a brand produced by its parent company Shimatani Syouryu Kobo in Toyama prefecture. Since its founding in 1909, they have been manufacturing singing bowls for Buddhist temples.
Choose from two different hammered patterns:
Kazahana: snow flakes on a sunny cloudless day - the pattern of the ground with the snow flakes
Arare: large hail coming down with a sound - a trace that hail leaves behind
Care:
Wash with soft cloth and mild dish soap.
No stovetop (or any other extreme high heat), microwave or freezer.
Use a metal polish, tooth paste or baking soda to regain the original luster.
* Each plate will come with care instructions.
Size:
5.25 x 5.25"
